New Computer Setup Directions for

Windows XP Setup Directions
 

Step 1. Click on START, click CONTROL PANEL, double click NETWORK CONNECTIONS.

Step 2. Double click "New Connection Wizard." The New Connection Wizard will appear. Click "Next."

NOTE: If a window asks you to either (1) View the ISP offers by your manufacturer or (2) Run the new connection wizard, choose to run the new connection wizard.

Step 3. On the "Network Connections Type" screen, select "Connect to the Internet." Click "Next."

Step 4. On the "Getting Ready" screen, select the second option "Set up my connection manually" and click "Next."

Step 5. On the "Internet Connection" screen, select "Connect using a dial-up modem," click "Next."

Step 6. On this screen, type "COLI" for the ISP name. Click "Next."

Step 7. On the "Phone Number to Dial" screen, type the following:
331-4333 or 258-0776 or 587-1160 or 932-1105 or 237-7707 or 779-7056
Click "Next."

Step 8. "Internet Account Information" is where you will enter your User Name and Password (both of which are lowercase and without spaces) . At the bottom of this screen, uncheck the box next to "Turn on Internet Connection Firewall." Click "Next."

Step 9. "Completing the New Connection Wizard" screen, click "Finish."

Step 10. Close any open windows. Launch Internet Explorer (either double click Internet Explorer on your desktop or click Start then Internet Explorer). You should get a message saying "Page cannot be displayed". Go under the "tools" menu to "Internet Options". About 1 inch down from the top of this window you will see a box that says address (in the homepage section). Press your backspace key to delete the current contents of the address box and type in www.torchlake.com then click the "connections" tab at the top of this window. Where there are three white dots, click the option for "Always Dial My Default Connection". Click ok and then close Internet Explorer by clicking the "X" in the upper-right corner.

From now on, when you start Internet Explorer the dialup connection box will pop up. Then just click on "Connect" or "Dial" to connect to the internet!!

Outlook Express for Windows XP Setup Directions:

Step 1.  Start Outlook Express. If the following window pops up, goto step 2. If the following window does not pop up, go under the "tools" menu to "accounts". Click the mail tab at the top. Click "Add" and then "Mail". At the end of these setup steps you will have to click "close" to close the accounts window.

Step 2. Type in your name. For example: John Smith or Mr & Mrs Smith or The Smith Family.   Then click Next >

Step 3. EVERYTHING FROM THIS POINT ON MUST BE ALL LOWER CASE AND NO SPACES. Type in your email address. For example: jsmith@torchlake.com . Then click Next >

Step 4. The top of this window should say "My incoming mail server is a pop3 server". In the 2 empty boxes underneath that, type torchlake.com in each box. Click Next >

Step 5. On the next screen, the account name will already be typed in. Type your password into the password box. Do not change either of the checkboxes. Click Next >

Step 6. Click Finish.
