Netscape 2.0 & 3.0 directions Netscape 4.0 or Communicator directions
1) Once on the desktop, click on the My computer Icon then click on Dialup Networking. If dialup Networking is not there try clicking start | programs | accessories | then Dial-up Networking. If it still isn't there click here to install Dialup Networking on the computer.
2) Once in Dialup Networking, click the Make New Connection ICON.
3) It comes up saying "Type a name of the computer you are dialing", type in Chain O' Lakes Internet (does not have to be perfect)
4) Click Next, then it asks for the Phone Number, The area code can be left blank since its a local call, then type in the local phone number: either (331-4333, 258-0776, 932-1105, 587-1160, 237-7707).
5) Click Next, then click Finish
6) Now on the Icon called Chain O' Lakes Internet that was just created do a "right" mouse click on it, then click on make shortcut. It will say it "Cannot create a shortcut here do you want to create on your desktop instead". Say YES. Close out of dialup Networking and the My computer windows, you should have a new Icon on your desktop or Main Screen saying "Shortcut to Chain O' Lakes Internet"

A) Go ahead and load up Netscape 2.0 or 3.0, if it wants to dial click cancel.
B) Once in Netscape Click on Options at the top then on General Preferences.
C) Goto the appearance tab and near the middle it should read Browser Starts With, Make sure home page is checked and type in for Netscape 3.0x http://www.torchlake.com or http://www.torchlake.com/links.htm for Netscape 2.0x.
D) Click on OK at the bottom
E) Click back on Options then on Mail & New Preferences
F) Once in Mail & News Preferences click the Identity tab at the top
G) Where is says name, put in your real name (it doesn't matter how you type it)
H) Where it says email address enter your email address in the form username@torchlake.com
I) Either leave the reply to address blank or enter your email address
J) Click on the Server Tab
K) Where it says Outgoing Mail server, fill in mail.torchlake.com
Where it says Incoming Mail Server fill in torchlake.comL) Where it says POP3 Username or login Name, type in your username (whatever is before the @torchlake.com)
M) Near the bottom where it says NNTP Server or News Server you can enter news.torchlake.com
N) Click on OK, and Close out of Netscape 2.0x or 3.0x
8) Netscape 4.0 or Communicator 4.0x directions
A) Go ahead and load up Netscape Navigator 4.0x or Communicator 4.0x, if it wants to dial click cancel.
B) Once in Netscape, Click on edit at the top then on Preferences.
C) Click on the Navigator Category and near the middle it should read "Home Page" with the location below. Edit the location so it says http://www.torchlake.com
D) Click on the plus on the Mail & Groups Category
E) Then click on the Identity sub-category so its highlighted.
F) Where is says your name, put in your real name
G) Where it says email address enter your email address in the form username@torchlake.com
H) Either leave the reply to address blank or enter your email address into its field.
I) Click on the Mail Server sub-category, so its highlighted.
J) Where it says Outgoing Mail SMTP server, fill in mail.torchlake.com
Where it says Incoming Mail Server fill in torchlake.com
K) Where it says Mail server Username, type in: your username (the username is whatever that is before the @torchlake.com)
L) Now click the Groups Server sub-category so that it is hightlighted
M) Fill in where it says discussion group (news) server with news. torchlake.com
N) Click on OK, and Close Netscape 4.0x or Communicator 4.0x
9) Once back to your desktop or main screen of windows 95,
10) Double Click on the Shortcut to Chain O' Lakes Internet that you created previously.
11) Enter Your username and password in their respective fields (lower case and no spaces)
12) Make sure the phone number is correct and without the (231) in front of it, if not click on Dial Properties and try to find out what's misplaced or not valid in the fields, hint 75% of the time, if the number is wrong, there is something in the field where it says to access an outside line first dial, if so erase that and click on OK
13) Once Everything is verified hang up and hit connect. Make sure to tell them to also hit the Netscape ICON once connected.
