Webmail Help Guide
Posted by: joe @ 4/2/2012 10:32:06 AM}
For those users needing to know more about the new webmail application. If you are having trouble viewing the messages and clicking on buttons in the webmail, we have found that if you use the
basic
setting on the login page, this corrects these issues.
The
default
Standard (high-speed connection)
selection is an enhanced Ajax (java-script) version of the webmail, which takes advantage of the features of newer web browsers. If you have an newer web browser, we recommend using this setting, but if you are having any problems reading messages, clicking on buttons, etc, then we suggest you use the
basic
setting when logging into the webmail. There is a help file button in the webmail for further help. It can also be viewed by clicking on
this link
as well.
If you wish to use a email client software such as Outlook Express / Windows Live Mail / Thunderbird / or other email client software and not use the webmail. Please either refer to the setup directions located in our knowledge base or please give us a call and we can help set this up.

Mail Server Update
Posted by: bill @ 3/16/2012 7:25:44 PM}
Update: Our e-mail is up and running using a different service. There are some positives to the new service.
1. Everyone gets 5gb of email storage
2. The web interface is new
3. There is a calendar function in the web mail
4. There is a file storage function in the web mail
5. The mail server is now a cluster of servers out on
the web in many different locations. This provides a level of redundancy not possible with us hosting our own e-mail in house.
We did not make the change by choice, but by necessity. Our server has crashed hard and we do not currently know the status of the e-mails that were still on the server. If your e-mail is not working, make sure your servers are set to mail.torchlake.com and your username is your full e-mail address. Please give us a call if you are having trouble logging in.
Your E-Mail address and password will remain the same. Please let us know if you have trouble logging in.

Misc issues today.
Posted by: joe @ 3/10/2012 7:51:13 PM}
Looks like our random issues today may have been caused by solar flares? We are not certain, but it is a distinct possibility seeing as many places lost power again today and the power company says it was the solar flares.

Utility Power issues continued
Posted by: joe @ 3/6/2012 10:48:06 PM}
Still waiting for utility power in many locations. The batteries are only getting those locations temporary access until they die again. Some of you may see the internet connection work, then only to quit working again because of this. Hopefully tomorrow more sites are restored with utility power so we can get 24 X 7 up-time again. We will keep going out to these sites to swap batteries throughout the day tomorrow and each day until the utility power comes back. We thank you for your patience through this time.

Outages from Storm
Posted by: joe @ 3/5/2012 9:29:03 AM}
You may be aware of the power outages in certain areas. We are currently waiting for power-lines to be fixed. Also note that even though you have power at your residence, your access point could still not have power, thus not allowing you to get on the internet. Please also note that some of our access points are running on battery power, meaning they could go out until a more reliable power source is in place. The network might also be running slower than normal since we are using all of our backup routes. Thank you for your patience and everything should be up to speed by Tuesday.
